Alexander Michaelides has been Professor of Finance at Imperial College London since 2013. He served as Head of the Department of Finance from 2014 to 2021 and is currently Director of Postgraduate Studies. From 2001 to 2010, he was a Lecturer and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics, while from 2010 to 2014 he was Professor of Finance at the University of Cyprus.

He has served as a Wim Duisenberg Research Fellow at the European Central Bank and as a Visiting Scholar at the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Central Bank of Cyprus. He holds a PhD from Princeton University (1997) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard University (1993).
