The 2nd Annual Conference of Komvos-Node is held with the aim of fostering dialogue and undertaking actions that can contribute to increasing the growth rate of Greece on economic, scientific, and cultural levels.
Komvos-Node has already launched its first three initiatives: Biotechnology, Economy, and the Utilization of Expats. During the Conference, there will be an update on the progress of these three initiatives. The update will be provided by the initiative coordinators:
- Konstantinos Drosatos, founding member of Komvos and General Secretary of the Board – Biotechnology initiative,
- Michael Haliassos, founding member and Vice President of the Board of Komvos– ENNOIA initiative for the Economy, and
- Angelos Chaniotis, founding member and President of the Board of Komvos– Initiative for the Utilization of Expats.
New Initiatives
Komvos enthusiastically announces the launch of three new initiatives in the fields of Shipping, Space, and Tourism. Each initiative will be accompanied by an inaugural discussion to lay the foundations for dialogue and the identification of new initiatives.
Shipping and ESG
This initiative focuses on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) as a lever for growth and competitiveness in Greek shipping. The initiative is coordinated by Harris Antoniou, the Treasurer of Komvos’ Board of Directors and founder of Neptune Maritime Leasing. The inaugural discussion will feature prominent figures from the industry such as:
- Christos Megalou, CEO of Piraeus Bank and Member of Komvos’ International Advisory Committee
- Eleni Polychronopoulou, President of HEMEXPO and ERMA First Group
- Giorgos Prokopiou, Shipowner and Founder of Dynacom, Sea Traders & Dynagas
- Hercules Haralambides, Professor of Maritime Economics and Logistics and Founding Member of Komvos
Space Science and Industry
This initiative focuses on the latest developments and opportunities in the space industry. The initiative is coordinated by Academic Stamatios Krimigis and Astrophysicist Athena Coustenis. The opening discussion of the initiantive is moderated by journalist Anna Grimani, founding member of Komvos and member of the Board of Directors. The following participants take part in the discussion (in alphabetical order):
- Adrianos Golemis, First Greek ESA astronaut selectee
- Ioannis Gekas, Head of Space and Analytics at Accenture Greece
- Stamatios Krimigis, Honorary Head of the Space Exploration Department at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and Emeritus Director of NASA Space Programs, Founding Member of Komvos
- Anezina Solomonidou, Planetologist and President of the European Union Geosciences Committee’s Planetary Sciences Division
Tourism and Sustainability
This initiative focuses on sustainable development in tourism, with the participation of experts and entrepreneurs in the field. The action is coordinated by Elizabeth Filippouli, a journalist and social entrepreneur. The discussion will be moderated by Komvos’ President, Angelos Chaniotis, and speakers will include:
- Alexandra Mitsotaki, President of the World Human Forum
- Konstantinos Rokofyllos, Founder/CEO of Paleros Bay
- Eleni Skarveli, Director of EOT UK and Ireland
- Elizabeth Filippouli, Founder/CEO of Global Thinkers Forum
These initiatives will offer a significant step toward the development of their respective sectors and contribute to strengthening dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders in the field.
The conference will take place on November 29, 2024, from 14:00 to 20:00, with a reception at the same venue (Amphitheater of Karatzas Building, National Bank of Greece, 82-84 Aiolou, Athens), generously offered by the National Bank of Greece.
