Kalliope studied with David Greene at the University of Westminster and with Dalibor Vesely at the Architectural Association (AA), where she was awarded the Diploma Prize in 1981.

She collaborated with Tim Ronalds (1982-88), winning the 1988 The Sunday Times-RIBA Community Award for their Jackson’s Lane Theatre design. She has been practicing in Athens since 1989.

Kalliope taught at the AA (1982-86) and the Graduate School of Design (GSD), Harvard (1993).  She was Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong (2017-18). She has been a critic at many schools including the Academy of Fine Arts, Institute for Art and Architecture in Vienna; the Leicester School of Architecture; the Chinese University of Hong Kong; and the University College Dublin.

She was a member of the Advisory Board of the NPO SARCHA (School of Architecture for All), 2006-13. Kalliope also taught at the EU-Program for the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University in Venice and Athens between 2016-23.

During the CoV19 pandemic (2021-22) she organized and co-hosted the ‘Socratic Maieutics’ series of talks for the University of Florida.

Since 1995, she has been organizing and teaching, as Adjunct Professor of Architecture, the ‘Athens Studio’ for the School of Design, University of Western Australia.

Kalliope has designed a large number of buildings, many of which have won awards and been published. While a partner at 3SK Stylianidis Architects (2003-10), she led the team that won the International Competition for the conversion of the FIX brewery in Athens into the National Museum of Contemporary Art. This was also the subject of her book ‘Project FIX: Reviving the Future’, published by Potamos in 2019.
