George Tsokos is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

He studied Medicine at the University of Athens and at Georgetown University/VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C., specializing in Immunology and Rheumatology at the National Institutes of Health. He was a member of the Uniformed Services/Walter Reed community, where he served in various leadership positions. His research focused on the cellular and molecular pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

His research on the molecular and biochemical abnormalities in immune cells from SLE patients has led to the identification of new therapeutic targets, which are currently in various stages of clinical development.
