Georgia Destouni (Gia) is a professor of Hydrology and Water Resources at Stockholm University in Sweden. Her research interests include hydroclimate, water resource availability and security, diffuse water pollution in the environment, and the interactions and changes of water resources with climate change and various developments in human activity.

She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and the American Geophysical Union (AGU). She has been awarded the Henry Darcy Medal by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and the Sigge Thernwall Grand Prize from Sweden for her research in sustainability. Her various leadership positions and trusted committees include, among others, her roles as Chair of the Department of Physical Geography at Stockholm University, Editor-in-Chief of the AGU journal Water Resources Research, member of the Board of Governors of WWF Sweden, Secretary-General of the Swedish Research Council Formas, and Vice-President of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).
