Biotechnology Reshaping the Social Narrative of Health and the Economy 

Komvos-Node: Networks of Global Hellenism and the ARISTEiA Institute USA are organizing, in collaboration with the BIO³ conference of Bioinnovation, a conference on the Synergy Structures of Health-Biotechnology-Economy. 

The conference will take place at the “Miltiadis Evert” Auditorium, in the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens, on Thursday, September 5, 2024 (14:00 – 18:30). 

This is the 2nd part of a conference that was held back in 2023. In the first part, the need and opportunity was identified for Greece to claim an important international role in the field of Biotechnology in Health. This is the main driver of the 21st century, radically changing the world, alongside AI and the Internet. 

In this year’s conference, the steps will be discussed that must be taken for Greece to leverage a series of advantages, such as the highly skilled human capital of Greek scientists or the presence of significant Greek scientists and executives in key international positions. Besides, the international market trend is a significant positive factor, as the health biotechnology sector is projected to reach $713.3 billion by 2027. 

The initiative is coordinated by Konstantinos Drosatos (University of Cincinnati) and Nikos Kyrpides (Berkeley National Laboratory). Speakers from both Greece and abroad will be participating, representing the fields of science, research, business, and investment. 

The subcategories of the conference include:  

• Designing profitable synergy structures between health, biotechnology, and the economy,  

• Attracting investments, and financing tools for development.  

Mike Romanos (Imperial College, NK:IO Ltd, UK) is the main speaker, with his speech titled: “Exploiting Bioscience Innovation for Medical and Commercial Impact”.
