Eleni Skarveli entered the tourism sector shortly before the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, following a successful professional trajectory at the European Parliament in 2003, where she worked as an adviser to a Member of the European Parliament. She soon joined the Advertising Directorate of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) at its Athens headquarters, leveraging her language skills and European experience to promote Greece internationally.
In 2011, she was appointed Head of the GNTO Office in Brussels, which later evolved into the BENELUX Office based in Amsterdam. During her tenure, the office achieved notable results through dynamic communication campaigns, strategic partnerships, and targeted promotional initiatives that strengthened visitor flows from Northern Europe to Greece, consolidating the country’s position as a leading tourism destination.
In 2021, she was appointed Director of the GNTO Office for the United Kingdom & Ireland in London, assuming responsibility for one of the most important markets for Greek tourism.
With a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, she founded the platform SustainableGreece.co.uk, which showcases Greek experiences, businesses, and destinations that implement best practices in sustainable tourism. In 2022, she launched the Sustainable Travel AGORA initiative, bringing together destinations, tourism professionals, and policymakers to foster collaboration and promote sustainable development.
Eleni Skarveli holds an MSc in Strategic Marketing and has served as Secretary General of the European NGO Women of Europe Award.
In 2024, she was honoured with the Sustainability Ambassador Award at the ATHENA40 Awards, in recognition of her contribution to integrating sustainability into tourism strategy and promoting Greece globally.
