John Platsidakis began his career in 1978 at Bank of America in Athens, Piraeus, and London. He resigned from the bank in 1987 with the title of Vice President and joined the Marmaras Shipping Group in Piraeus as Chief Financial Officer until 1988. In 1989, Mr. Platsidakis joined the Angelicoussis Shipping Group, taking the position of CEO of Anangel Shipping Enterprises and also serving as Vice President and Director of Angelicoussis Shipping Group Ltd. He resigned from the Angelicoussis Group in September 2020 and joined Costamare Shipping in April 2021. Mr. Platsidakis has served in various positions (Director, Vice President, President, Executive Committee Member, etc.) in numerous organizations, such as Intercargo, Intertanko, the Chamber of Shipping of Greece, the Union of Greek Shipowners, the Antonios and Ioannis Angelicoussis Foundation, and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Mr. Platsidakis was the founder of the Greek Alumni Association of the London School of Economics in 1980, served as its President from 1980 to 2005, and was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Hellenic Observatory at the European Institute of the London School of Economics. Mr. Platsidakis was included in Lloyd’s 100 Most Influential People in the Shipping Industry in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017, and received the Seatrade Personality of the Year 2019 award. Mr. Platsidakis studied Mathematics (B.Sc.) at the University of Thessaloniki, Operational Research (M.Sc.) at the London School of Economics, and Economics and Econometrics (M.Sc.) at Southampton University.
