Alexander Nehamas is a philosopher, emeritus professor of Philosophy and Comparative Literature, and emeritus professor of the Humanities at the Edmund N. Carpenter II Class of 1943 Chair at Princeton University, where he taught from 1990 to 2021. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the American Philosophical Society since 2016, and a member of the Academy of Athens since 2018. His research focuses on ancient Greek philosophy, aesthetics, Friedrich Nietzsche, Michel Foucault, and literary theory.
