Antonia Trichopoulou is a physician, a full member of the Academy of Athens, supervisor of the Center for Research and Education in Public Health at the Academy of Athens, professor at Yale University in the United States, and emeritus professor at the Medical School of the University of Athens.

She has contributed, from various positions, to the work of important committees in Greece and abroad, such as the World Health Organization and the European Union.

Her academic activity focuses on public health and nutritional epidemiology, with an emphasis on investigating the relationship between the Mediterranean diet and health. Her scientific work has gained international recognition with numerous awards, including the award from the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS). She has been honored by the President of the Hellenic Republic with the Gold Cross for her contributions to medical science.

At the academic level, she has mentored dozens of physicians and health professionals, many of whom have excelled both in Greece and abroad. She has published papers in international scientific journals, and her work is widely recognized in the international literature with an h-index of 160. In 2014, she was included in the Thomson Reuters list, and in 2018 and 2021, she was included in the Clarivate Analytics lists of researchers with the most citations in their scientific work.
