Joseph Sifakis is a research director at the Verimag laboratory in Grenoble.

In 2007, he was awarded the Turing Award, often regarded as the Nobel Prize in Computer Science. He is a member of the French Academy of Sciences, the French Academy of Technologies, the European Academy, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering of the United States, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The French state awarded him the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit in 2009 and Commandant of the Legion of Honour in 2011.

In 2009, he was awarded the Prize of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentary and Democracy, and in 2013, he was honored with the Commander of the Order of the Phoenix.
