Filippos Tsimpoglou was a Doctor of Library Science and Information Science from the Ionian University and a graduate in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).

Since 2014, he served as the General Director of the National Library of Greece, responsible for the relocation of the National Library to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the organization of traditional library services with a modern approach, the design and development of digital services, and integrating the National Library into the digital age. He also played a key role in the creation and operation of model public library services and the development of the National Network of Libraries ecosystem. Furthermore, he contributed to enhancing the National Library’s position as an unmatched international center for the study of recorded Greek culture and its engagement with history since 1999.

+ Filippos Tsimpoglou passed away after a brief illness on February 2, 2023, in Athens.
