Honorary Presidents of Komvos are individuals who have provided moral or material support, either for the establishment of the organization or for the advancement of its goals and the achievement of its mission.
The honorary presidents of Komvos are: former President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, former Prime Minister, Mr. Lukas Papademos and economist Mr. John Papanikolaou.
Both also served as honorary presidents of the initiative group for the establishment of Komvos, along with the late former President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias.

Former President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias +
Karolos Papoulias served as President of the Hellenic Republic from 2005 to 2015. Prior to that, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1985 to 1989 and again from 1993 to 1996.
He was a close collaborator of Andreas Papandreou and left his mark either as Deputy Minister or Minister of Foreign Affairs, promoting and defending the country’s positions across the globe.

Former President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos
Prokopios Pavlopoulos is a Greek lawyer, university professor, and politician who served as President of the Hellenic Republic from 2015 to 2020. In the past, he was Minister of the Interior from 2004 to 2009.
Former Prime Minister Mr. Lucas Papademos
Lucas Demetrios Papademos is a Greek economist who served as Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic from November 2011 to May 2012. Previously, he was Vice President of the European Central Bank from 2002 to 2010 and Governor of the Bank of Greece from 1994 to 2002. He was a visiting professor of public policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and is a senior fellow at the Center for Financial Studies at the University of Frankfurt. He also served as President of the Academy of Athens.
First President of the Board of Directors: John Papanikolaou
John Papanikolaou is an economist. Since 2004, he has worked as a financial consultant both in Greece and abroad, specializing in strategic planning (development and implementation of strategy). He has been involved in numerous Board of Directors (BoD) of large companies and banks.
He has served as the General Director of the International Centre for Black Sea Studies, Deputy Governor of Greece at the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, and a member of the first Governing Committee of the University of Thessaly. Prior to that, he worked in the government sector as Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Greece, Andreas Papandreou, President of the Council of Economic Experts of the Ministry of National Economy, and Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He began his professional career as a Lecturer in Economics at the London School of Economics and Queen Mary College (London University).
He graduated from the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Law, University of Athens, with the highest grade of Distinction (9.3/10). He then pursued further studies at the London School of Economics (M.Sc.Econ with Distinction) and at the London Graduate School for Business Studies (Senior Executive Program). He is also an Honorary Professor at the Kuban State University in Krasnodar, Russia, and an Honorary Doctor (Honoris Causa) at the State Technical University of Moldova.
