Demographics and Brain Drain are the central thematic topics of the 2nd Star Forum organized by STAR Central Greece Channel in Lamia, from March 26 to March 30, 2024, within the framework of the Panhellenic Exhibition of Lamia. 

The Vice President of Komvos-Node, Professor Michael Haliassos, will participate as a speaker at the Forum, specifically in the session focusing on the Networks of Global Hellenism, on Thursday, March 29, 2024 (12:00–12:45). 

The session addresses the need to utilize Greece’s scientific potential internationally, which can offer much to the country through the positions held by Greeks abroad. But why aren’t the successes of Greek scientists abroad being transferred to Greece? This question will be answered by Professor Michael Haliassos, who will also comment on the timely issue of strengthening public universities as well as the invitation to non-state universities. 

Speakers at the event also include former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis, former caretaker Prime Minister Vassiliki Thanou, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras, Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sophia Zacharaki, Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, and other important figures from the academic, political, business, artistic, and religious sectors. 

Komvos-Node has a significant presence at the event, as apart from its Vice President Professor Michael Haliassos, the speakers also include corporate members of Komvos-Node Christina Koulouri – Rector of Panteion University, Alekos Kritikos – Special Advisor at ELIAMEP, former European Commission official, and Fay Makantasi – Head of Research at the think tank diaNEOsis.
