Christina Koulouri is a Professor of Modern and Contemporary History and the Rector of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. She studied at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens, at the University of Sorbonne (Paris I), and at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. In 2010, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Sorbonne (Paris 1 – UMR IRICE), in 2017 she was a Visiting Research Fellow at Princeton University, and in June 2019, a Visiting Fellow at the University of Regensburg (Germany). She has received the Nikos Svoronos Award (1994), the ‘Delphi’ Award from the International Olympic Academy (2012), and the Dimitrios Vikelas Award from ISOH (International Society of Olympic Historians). Since November 2020, she has been a member of the National Council for Research, Technology, and Innovation (ESETEK). She has published books and articles on the teaching of history, the formation of Greek national identity and historical memory, public history, and the history of sports and the Olympic Games. She has also edited the English edition of six volumes of teaching materials for history education in all Balkan countries, which have been translated into Greek and ten other languages. Her latest book, Fustanelles and Chlamydes: Historical Memory and National Identity 1821-1930 (2021), was awarded the State Prize for Essay and the Reader’s Prize.
