108 distinguished Greeks from both the diaspora and Greece—personalities with international recognition and distinction in academic, scientific, business, and other fields—are joining their prestige and influence to establish an organization temporarily named “Komvos-Node: Networks of Global Hellenism.” 

Former Presidents of the Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias and Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, and former Prime Minister Mr. Loukas Papadimos, are supporting this initiative by participating as Honorary Presidents in the Initiative Committee. 

The establishment of this non-profit organization is planned by the end of the year and signifies the necessity for a broader mobilization of Hellenism’s potential, as a counterbalance to the critical situation facing modern Greece. 

On the 200th anniversary of the declaration of the Revolution for Independence, Greece is confronted with significant economic, geostrategic, and social challenges, resulting from long-standing as well as serious short-term issues. Therefore, it is urgent to ensure the broadest possible national unity and, most importantly, the wider activation of Hellenism. 

To contribute to this effort, prominent members of Hellenism are promoting the creation of “Komvos-Node: Networks of Global Hellenism.” With significant international presence and complete independence from political parties, “Komvos-Node” will function as a catalyst for connecting actions from individuals and organizations, aiming to transform the comparative advantages of Hellenism into developmental initiatives for the benefit of Greece. “Komvos-Node” seeks to collaborate with existing organizations, structures, and institutions, serving as a forum for discussions and deliberations. Simultaneously, it aims to expand its horizon by involving new members in its activities. 

The organization will prioritize the development of proposals that adopt innovative practices to promote projects with significant developmental, technological, social, cultural, and geopolitical impact. Indicative areas include shipping, culture, health and biotechnology, elderly care, and the environment. 

“Komvos-Node” also aims to catalog as many distinguished Greeks abroad as possible and encourage and assist in the creation of a comprehensive, non-partisan national plan for leveraging the diaspora and repatriating Greek scientists, particularly from the migration wave of the last decade. 

The 108 distinguished Greeks involved in the vision and creation of “Komvos-Node” are active members of the Academy of Athens, university professors, diplomats, entrepreneurs, senior officials of organizations, and major think tanks.
