Komvos Evolves. Nikos Konstantaras, journalist and founding member and member of the Board of Komvos, writes in the Kathimerini column “Opinions” about Komvos’ 2nd Annual Working Conference, held last November. With the conference as a point of reference, he highlights the importance of collective effort and the networking of Greeks around the world, through initiatives that connect science, culture, and society in new and creative ways.

Two years after its establishment, Komvos has emerged as a point of reference for collaboration among Greeks in Greece and abroad. With the support of the international scientific and business community, Komvos continues to expand its work through new initiatives in Shipping, Space, and Sustainable Tourism, while fostering dialogue on innovation and development with social impact.

On November 28, the 3rd Annual Working Conference of Komvos will take place, presenting the latest initiatives, reviewing the progress of ongoing projects, and setting the stage for the next steps of the Network. The 2nd Annual Working Conference of Komvos

After years of preparation, the initiative that aims to unite the creative forces of global Hellenism has now acquired a clear identity and steady momentum. Komvos seeks to harness the human and scientific potential of Greeks around the world for the benefit of the country and society, through collaborations, targeted initiatives, and a long-term vision.

At the 2nd Annual Working Conference of Komvos, held in Athens last November, the progress of the initiatives developed over the past year was presented, along with the new actions shaping the next phase of its trajectory.

As noted by Angelos Chaniotis, President of the Board of Directors of Komvos, “Komvos began its journey with a vision to make better use of the potential of global Hellenism for the development of our homeland, which continually faces new challenges.” He added that this year’s conference “presents the progress of Komvos’ initiatives and opens the discussion on new actions in fields with significant prospects for Greece.”

Among the new strategic initiatives presented were:

Shipping and ESG: Establishing a collaborative hub focused on the energy transition of the fleet, the use of propulsion and AI technologies, and the improvement of corporate governance in the maritime sector.
Space Science and Industry: Developing a shared platform for information and collaboration among those interested in engaging with the rapidly expanding space sector.
Sustainable Tourism: Promoting a new model of tourism that strengthens local identity and communities through partnerships with institutions, businesses, and research organizations.

The conference also highlighted the progress of ongoing initiatives, such as the ENNOIA program — which aims to empower households in their financial decision-making — as well as projects in Biotechnology and the engagement of the Greek diaspora.

Special mention was made of the establishment of an International Advisory Committee, consisting of distinguished figures from the fields of science and business, which enhances the strategic planning of Komvos.

Through the steady development of collaborative networks, the continuous involvement of scientists and professionals from around the world, and the support of sponsors and institutional partners, Komvos is weaving a network of connection and mutual support that lies at the heart of its vision: a global system of cooperation among Greeks, dedicated to progress and creativity — in Greece and beyond.
