Dr Panayiotis C. Andreou is Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance, Accounting and Management Science at the Cyprus University of Technology. His work focuses on financial literacy and financial wellbeing, contributing actively to public discourse and the development of related policies.

He is a founding member and President of the Financial Wellbeing Institute and currently serves as an Expert in the Evidence-Informed Policy Making 2.0 project of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, supporting the use of scientific evidence in policymaking.

His research spans corporate finance, behavioral finance, green finance, and financial markets. He places particular emphasis on understanding how individuals make financial decisions, with a focus on financial literacy, digital financial skills, and household resilience in periods of economic uncertainty. His work has been published in international academic journals and has contributed to policy initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy.

Since 2017, he has been collaborating with the Central Bank of Cyprus on financial literacy initiatives and national surveys. In 2020, he participated in the Committee responsible for the development of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy in Cyprus, and he currently serves as Scientific Advisor to the Cyprus Financial Literacy Committee.

Alongside his academic work, he is actively engaged in knowledge dissemination through educational programmes, public lectures, and media contributions. He is the creator of the “Money Doctor” series, through which he communicates key financial concepts in a simple and practical way, contributing to the development of financial literacy and essential life skills among the wider public.
