International Distinction for Prof. Hercules Haralambides as the Most Influential Academic in Shipping and Port Management
We are pleased to announce that Prof. Hercules Haralambides, founding member of Komvos and member of the advisory board for our Shipping and ESG initiative, has been recognized as the most influential academic in the field of Shipping and Port Management according to the Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) indicator.
Professor Haralambides has an extensive academic career in economics since 1992, having taught at nine universities across seven different countries. He currently holds the Chair of Maritime Economics and Ports at Dalian Maritime University in China. He is the founder of the Center for Maritime Economics and Logistics (MEL) and the editor of the associated scientific journal Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL). His research portfolio includes over 400 scientific publications, books, and articles. Additionally, he has provided consultancy to governments, international organizations, and private sector entities. In 2008, he was honored with a medal by the President of the Hellenic Republic in recognition of his distinguished contributions.
Our pride is further increased by the fact that two more members of Komvos have been included in the same list of the 50 most influential academics in the field: founding member Dr. Sotirios Theofanis, PhD (University of York), and corresponding member Prof. Maria Boile (University of Piraeus).
Moreover, the Greek academic presence in the international maritime sector is strong and includes other distinguished professors affiliated with both Greek and foreign universities.
